Stalling while driving

I have a 22 all weather with about 38k miles on it. Recently it has started stalling randomly while driving like you switch the ignition off. It easily restarts with a key cycle and the starter or roll starting if still in motion. I have changed the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator/sensor, and the in tank lift pump and still have the same issue. Any suggestions on what to look into next are appreciated. I’m starting to think either the high pressure pump or the ECU is going to be the culprit but I hate throwing parts and money at something without knowing what the problem really is. My banks gage only shows a past EGR code, no current codes and never a check engine light.

It sounds like it just could be a weak ignition switch if it restarts easily. The ignition switch keeps the voltages flowing where needed in the ON position.

Not that the switch couldn’t be failing but it was replaced less than a year ago. I would be more apt to suspect a bad relay for the fuel pump or failing ECU than the ignition switch itself. I have a pigtail from the old switch I could hard wire together to eliminate the key and rule it out.

When I had issues Wade said it could be the tank pump or the metering valve. Since you did the tank pump that leaves the metering valve on the engine fuel pump. I’d give Wade at Diesel Freaks a holler and consult with him.

I didn’t replace the complete unit but the sensor itself was replaced before the lift pump. I have Wade in the loop on what’s going on and unfortunately without having it in his shop we’re through the common culprits already.
